Choosing a Filtrete FilterThere are several types of 1" disposable filters on the market today. Below are some features and benefits for some of the most common types of filters.


1" Pleated Electrostatic, High Performance

Benefits

  • Disposable
  • Many surpass efficiency of all other 1" air filters
  • Electrostatically charged fibers act like tiny magnets; these attract and capture small particles that other filters miss
  • Alternative to costly, permanent electronic air cleaners
  • Protects furnace motor

Considerations

  • Requires changing every two to three months
  • More expensive than traditional disposable filters

1" Fiberglass or polyester

Benefits

  • Inexpensive
  • Disposable
  • Protects furnace motor
  • Traps large particles

Considerations

1" Pleated

  • Typically captures more particles overall than fiberglass or washable filters

Consideration

  • Changing every month recommended
  • Ineffective at capturing microscopic allergens

  • Expensive
  • High-maintenance
